Our Story
Matters of Relationship is a mental health organization that offers systemic therapy-oriented trainings and supervision for mental health professionals in India. We noticed that more and more Indian clients are seeking high quality couple and family therapy services. However, there is a dearth of mental health professionals who have specialized training and/or degrees in working with couples and families, possibly because of a gap in our counsellor education system in this regard. Our organization was founded in order to fill this gap in the Indian mental health field and to provide mental health professionals with high quality systemic therapy trainings and supervision.
Systemic therapy, unlike other individual therapies, believes that human beings are fundamentally shaped by and, in turn, influence their environment or the systems they are a part of (which includes their families, their communities, workplaces, other social institutions etc). Therefore, as mental health professionals, we need to be able to understand and work with our clients within their contexts, with a deep understanding of how their contexts impact and maintain their challenges in order to help clients effect sustainable changes in their lives.
