Our Story

Matters of Relationship is a mental health organization that offers Systemic therapy-oriented trainings and supervision for mental health professionals in India. While there is rapidly growing demand for good quality couple and family therapy in India, we observe that there is a significant shortage of clinicians who have specialised training and/or degrees in couple and family therapy to work effectively with those clients. Our organization was founded in order to fill this gap in the Indian mental health field. We aim to provide mental health professionals with high quality systemic therapy trainings and supervision by experienced systemic therapists to help them learn and expand their therapeutic skills and work more effectively with their clients.
What is Systemic Therapy?

Systemic therapy, unlike other individual therapies, believes that human beings are fundamentally shaped by and, in turn, influence their environment or the systems they are a part of (which includes their families, their communities, workplaces, other social institutions etc). These systems play a significant role in their psychological development and emotional well-being. Treating a client(s) without understanding and addressing their context is akin to treating a symptom without understanding the root cause of an illness. It does not lead to sustained change. Therefore, learning systemic therapy will help you, as a mental health professional, have a more holistic understanding of your clients' challenges and develop the necessary skills to help them experience sustained, second-order change in their presenting concerns.
