Building Stronger Relationships

Our Story

1.png

Matters of Relationship is a mental health organization that offers systemic therapy-oriented trainings and supervision for mental health professionals in India. We noticed that more and more Indian clients are seeking high quality couple and family therapy services. However, there is a dearth of mental health professionals who have specialized training and/or degrees in working with couples and families, possibly because of a gap in our counsellor education system in this regard. Our organization was founded in order to fill this gap in the Indian mental health field and to provide mental health professionals with high quality systemic therapy trainings and supervision.

Systemic therapy, unlike other individual therapies, believes that human beings are fundamentally shaped by and, in turn, influence their environment or the systems they are a part of (which includes their families, their communities, workplaces, other social institutions etc). Therefore, as mental health professionals, we need to be able to understand and work with our clients within their contexts, with a deep understanding of how their contexts impact and maintain their challenges in order to help clients effect sustainable changes in their lives.

Testimonials

I would recommend this course to anyone who is looking to begin or further their journey as a couples or family therapist. Sarayu teaches with generosity of knowledge, clarity of concepts and the same kindness that we’d want to offer to those in our rooms. This is a comprehensive course and few (if any) such courses are available here in our country, and taught so well, with real examples and continuous opportunities for practice. If you as a student can put in the effort that Sarayu puts into teaching, then you’ll have come away with a deep learning experience.
